Julian Bailey: Head to Head

A portrait is never simply a likeness. Through the richness and sensuality of oil paint, these works seek to convey something of the mystery, presence, and spirit of the sitter. Developed over several years through regular studio sessions with two young sitters, Chloe and, more recently, Evie, the paintings explore a formative period of self-discovery and emerging identity. Created from life and shaped by observation, imagination, and sustained engagement, the series reflects themes of awareness, discovery, and becoming. Thomas Spencer Fine Art is delighted to present this first selection of paintings dedicated entirely to this figurative theme.
